Thoughts This Fortnight

The Border Is Not Under Control

Per Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) "The border, it's not under control. I can tell you that." In April 2021, over 170,000 illegal immigrants entered the U.S. This past weekend in Houston, 90 illegals were being kept in a small home under the "supervision" of cartel members. So you can add human trafficking to our problems.

Like packing the courts, packing the U.S. Senate, the left, is interested in packing the electorate for Democrats with underprivileged people from Central America. It is time to end the insane open border policies of President Biden and his radical leftist allies.

Arizona Election Audit,
Will It Prove Election Fraud Occurred In 2020?

With the Arizona Democratic Party pulling out all stops to halt the 2020 election results audit in Phoenix (Maricopa County), it seems clear they are worried. Proof of Arizona fraud would undermine the so-called mini mandate of Joe Biden.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Authors
Reparations Plan For Qualified Afro-Americans

Actually this was already started back in 2010 in a class action suit against the USDA. The case was settled with an agreement to pay Afro-American farmers $50,000 each if they tried to get USDA help and failed. More than 92,000 signed up, 5 times the number of Afro-Americans who were actually farming during the period 1983-1997!

In 2021, in the first Biden omnibus spending bill was for $1.9 trillion with the majority going to pork barrel spending. They called it Covid relief, but among other things $1 billion of the bill was spent to help Black farmers who suffered under Covid, if you are Hispanic, Asian or Anglo farmers, you got nada (nothing).

Rep. Lee is now pushing her Reparations Bill HB40. Here are ten reasons why it is bad for everyone in America and racist to boot, from friend David Horowitz of the David Horowitz Freedom Center:

"There is No Single Group Clearly Responsible for the Crime of Slavery."

"Black Africans and Arabs were responsible for enslaving the ancestors of African-Americans. There were 3,000 black slave-owners in the antebellum United States.

"There is No One Group that Benefited Exclusively from its Fruits.

"The claim for reparations is premised on the false assumption that only whites have benefited from slavery. If slave labor created wealth for Americans, then obviously it has created wealth for black Americans as well, including the descendants of slaves. The GNP of black America is so large that it makes the African-American community the 10th most prosperous 'nation' in the world.

"Only a Tiny Minority of White Americans Ever Owned Slaves, and Others Gave their Lives to Free Them.

"This is true even for those who lived in the antebellum South where only one white in five was a slaveholder. Why should their descendants owe a debt? What about the descendants of the 350,000 Union soldiers who died to free the slaves? They gave their lives. What possible moral principle would ask them to pay again?

"America Today is a Multi-Ethnic Nation and most Americans Have no Connection (Direct or Indirect) to Slavery.

"The two great waves of American immigration occurred after 1880 and then after 1960. What rationale would require Vietnamese boat people, Russian refuseniks, Iranian refugees, etc. to pay reparations to American blacks?

"The Historical Precedents used to Justify the Reparations Claim Do Not Apply, and the Claim Itself is Based on Race not Injury.

"The historical precedents generally invoked to justify the reparations claim are payments to Jewish survivors of the Holocaust, Japanese-Americans and African-American victims of racial experiments in Tuskegee, or racial outrages in Rosewood and Oklahoma City. But in each case, the recipients of reparations were the direct victims of the injustice or their immediate families. This would be the only case of reparations to people who were not immediately affected and show sole qualification to receive reparations would be racial.

"The Reparations Argument is Based on the Unfounded Claim that All African-American Descendants of Slaves Suffer from the Economic Consequences of Slavery and Discrimination.

"No evidence-based attempt has been made to prove that living individuals have been adversely affected by a slave system that was ended over 150 years ago. The black middle-class in America is a prosperous community that is now larger in absolute terms than the black underclass. Does its existence not suggest that economic adversity is the result of failures of individual character rather than the lingering after-effects of racial discrimination and a slave system that ceased to exist well over a century ago?

"The Reparations Claim is one more Attempt to Turn African-Americans into Victims. It Sends a Damaging Message to the African-American Community.

"The renewed sense of grievance is neither a constructive nor a helpful message for black leaders to be sending to their communities and to others. To focus the social passions of African-Americans on what some Americans may have done to their ancestors fifty or a hundred and fifty years ago is to burden them with a crippling sense of victim-hood.

"Reparations to African Americans have Already Been Paid.

"Since the passage of the Civil Rights Acts and the advent of the Great Society in 1965, trillions of dollars in transfer payments have been made to African-Americans in the form of welfare benefits and racial preferences under the rationale of redressing historic racial grievances.

"What about the Debt Blacks Owe to America?

"Slavery existed for thousands of years before the Atlantic slave trade was born, and in all societies. But in the thousand years of its existence, there never was an anti-slavery movement until white Christians - Englishmen and Americans - created one.

"The Reparations Claim is a Separatist Idea that Sets African-Americans Against the Nation that Gave Them Freedom.

"For all America's faults, African-Americans have an enormous stake in their country and its heritage. It is this heritage that is really under attack by the reparations movement. The reparations claim is one more assault on America, conducted by racial separatists and the political left. It is an attack not only on white Americans, but on all Americans - especially African-Americans.

"America's African-American citizens are the richest and most privileged black people alive – a bounty that is a direct result of the heritage that is under assault. The American idea needs the support of its African-American citizens. But African-Americans also need the support of the American idea."

The Decline And Fall
Of An Independent Fact Based Press

The press in America has become the functional equivalent of Pravda (USSR), The People's Daily (Communist China), Der Sturmer (Nazi Germany). They have become propaganda arms of the left and the Democratic party.

A few examples come to mind while reading two "news" papers this past weekend, the New York Times and the Houston Chronicle. With virtually no attempt at balance or objective reporting, and where the stories are just an extension of editorial policy. These propaganda papers threaten our First Amendment and intelligent discussion and debate on all sides of issues.

In the New York Times, a story on a bridge needed in Kentucky. You have to get to paragraph 12 to find a comment that a tax increase is opposed by Sen. McConnell to pay for the 2 trillion dollar bill. You have to get to paragraph 25 when the Times first mentions the "state of other programs he believes have no business being called infrastructure."

Another story attacking poll watchers in Harris County, Texas. Did the New York Times actually talk to witnesses who testified about ballot fraud in Harris County, Texas at a recent Texas Legislative Committee hearing, led by Aubrey Taylor to be found at www.aubreytaylor.blogspot.com? Other minority witnesses to election fraud who testified were Gerry Monroe, Demetria Smith and a representative of Latinos for Texas and of the approximately 125 who signed up to testify in support of election security.

Of course there was no coverage by the Times or the Houston Chronicle. Instead one-sided stories that mislead readers. The fact is the Times and Chronicle support making election cheating as easy as possible for Democrats. Remember the closest thing to eternal life on earth are deceased Democratic voters.

Partisan Democratic Members Pressure
Greater Houston Partnership
To Oppose Election Security

In an attempt to recreate in Texas the attacks on Georgia's voter security bill by activating Woke business leaders to attack and boycott Georgia, here come the Texas attacks.

In a letter to the GHP, ten liberal Democratic board members attack SB7 and HB6 as putting "unnecessary and overreaching burdens on Harris County voters," especially minorities.

This effort follows the jihad against ballot security by the Houston Chronicle which features pages upon pages of one-sided attacks for weeks on election reform in Texas.

Roy Maynard, a writer, eloquently debunks this position:

"First 'Courts have repeatedly debunked the notion of widespread voter fraud..."

"The key word in here is 'widespread.' Of course voter fraud exists. The Chronicle admits as much in this very editorial, citing Lyndon Johnson's 1948 Senate election.

"Yet that single act of fraud changed history. Johnson made the most of his Senate win, and by the time a young and untried John F. Kennedy sought the presidency, he needed a powerful southerner like Johnson on his ticket. When Kennedy was gunned down, Johnson took the helm of the most powerful nation in the world - and soon began sending American troops into Vietnam.

"'Not widespread' doesn't mean insignificant. And the fact is that a single instance of voter fraud silences the voice of a legitimate Texas voter.

"The Chronicle concludes, 'Republican leaders pushing the restrictions accuse critics of 'race-baiting' and insist their efforts are about securing elections. Sure they are: securing elections for themselves.'

"But the Chronicle will find that its readers don't agree.

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 75% of likely U.S. voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver's license before being allowed to vote,' Rasmussen says. 'Only 21% are opposed to such a requirement.'

"That includes 69% of blacks and 82% of other minorities.

And new polling from the Dallas Morning News shows that '60% of voters support additional requirements beyond signature verification to increase 'election integrity,' while only 18% thought additional requirements are unnecessary.'

"In short, people support securing our elections, no one thinks voter ID is racist, and there is no evidence of voter suppression - just the opposite."

So here is some friendly advice to the Greater Houston Partnership, ignore the left-wing partisan effort to make election cheating easier. Do not pin the Woke attacks on common sense election security matters.

Inflation Hits U.S.,

Crisis
By Brian Ettinger, Contributing Editor

America is at a crisis of policies on all fronts (foreign and domestic). Time is of the essence that all of us get involved, not by violent protest or politicians engaging people to stay in the streets, destroying property, degrading law enforcement officials, or physically confronting others you disagree with. A sitting Congresswoman made statements encouraging violence unless a jury convicts a former police officer of murder. What a moron and this proves the points raised in this article. We are a society governed by laws. To hear and read the term 'systemic racism' used by politicians and the media that encourages violence and blames everything on race. The use of the term 'Jim Crow laws' is insulting and does an injustice to our country and society. We have come a long way from the Civil War and consistently elect minority candidates to hold office, including a two term President. Also, our history shows it was the Democrat elected leaders that promoted racism in the southern states and fought against civil rights and civil liberties. It is by the power of voting and holding these elected officials accountable we enable real change. Both political parties have failed us as a majority of elected officials on the federal, state and local level need to be voted out of office.

We need an overhaul of our political system.

1) Term limits are a must for these public officials. Congress should be 4 terms (a maximum of 8 years) and Senate should be 2 terms (a maximum of 12 years). Federal judges should be limited to 12 years, including the Supreme Court. A sitting President cannot select more than 3 Supreme Court justices in their term and the Senate still needs to confirm all judges. You can stagnate their terms.

2) No more civil service protections for life. These bureaucrats build up power and use it based on their political views, not in the best interest of our citizens. Just look at our intel and law enforcement agencies for examples of policies based on political views. The states need to put in a process for term limits where not already instituted and to no longer elect judges, but use a selection process with a committee made up of both parties and State Bar representatives and be subject to term limits.

We cannot let mob rule or social media companies engage in censorship. We, as a society need to decide if we are a country governed by the Rule of Law or let the anarchist and mob violence govern our institutions. This crisis is new and different from ones we faced from a Civil War, two World Wars, and Civil Rights legislation. But now as this social unrest and total lack of leadership is leading to domestic violence, an increase in crime, and lack of a handle on immigration issues (short or long term). A jury verdict needs to be based on evidence and all defendants are entitled to due process with no outside influence or intimidation. Our foreign policy is leading to China, Russia, Iran and North Korea to test the U.S. and lead to engagements and potential war. We need to act and send a message that we will take affirmative action and not cower down to these countries. For example, with China, we inform them if they continue to act aggressively towards Taiwan then we put nuclear weapons in Japan. Instruct Russia if it takes any action against Ukraine, then Ukraine will be admitted to NATO and institute economic sanctions that will cripple the Russia economy.

Lastly, we need to support law enforcement, provide training, non-lethal and lethal weapons to do their job and stop all protests when they become violent and destroy property and businesses. Take forceful action by arresting these individuals and punishing them with long prison sentences and go after the organizations that cause these events. Our current government is weak, and the media has no respect for all the citizens, just the mobs. So, act now and speak up as this crisis is different from any past crisis. This one causes doubts in our government institutions and a lack of respect for the law, denial of due process and allows the media and social media companies to censor views they disagree with. All the above will change America forever and a society not accountable for its actions is just mob rule.
