Thoughts This Fortnight

RBG RIP
Welcome Judge Amy Coney Barrett

RBG was a great woman and a class act liberal judge. She was also a feisty personality and an asset to the Supreme Court.

In many ways, Amy Coney Barrett brings the same qualities to the Supreme Court except she, in the tradition of the late Justice Scalia, is an originalist and a textualist who will apply the Constitution as written. When interpreting laws passed by Congress, she will focus on the text and not the alleged purposes Congress was "trying" to achieve.

The Democrats are just mad RBG didn't last until they would get the appointment. Too bad, that is not what the Constitution and laws provide. Trump is President, it's his appointment. The Senate can advise and consent and will do so rather quickly.

We will see if they trash her like they did to Judges Bork, Thomas and Kavanaugh.

Federal Judge From Laredo Orders What,
To Reinstate Straight Ticket Voting In Texas?

In the Federal courts are out of control department, less than three weeks before early voting starts in Texas, Federal Judge Marina Marmolejo due to Covid-19 decides to overrule the Texas legislature and reinstate straight ticket voting after the State Legislature passed a law abolishing it four years ago!

Keep in mind, most states do not have straight ticket voting. Look for the Court of Appeals to strike this stupid idea down quickly.

Note this case was brought by the Texas Chapter of the Alliance for Retired Americans. This group should be familiar as it is behind suits in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, all designed to change the voting rules. In these other states, they sought expanded time for mail-in ballots to be requested and returned. At TCR, we all know about universal mail ballots and their propensity to encourage fraud.

This group is a "non-profit" group set up by the AFL-CIO, which means it is another Democratic party front group. They claim to be non-partisan and that's a joke. They are trying to rig the election for the Biden campaign.

Joe Biden's Son, Corruption 101

The recent U.S. Senate report about the business dealings of Hunter Biden, aided and abetted by the influence of his dad is explosive despite the major media's suppression of the story.

The report, which you can reference here demonstrates how Hunter profited on Vice President Joe Biden's position. The dollar flow given Hunter's limited experience is breathtaking. Look at the numbers: (1) $3.5 million from the widow of the former Mayor of Moscow and Putin ally, (2) $4 million paid by the Ukrainian gas company to Biden, (3) Billions invested by Chinese companies with the Biden "investment" funds.

Remember when the Ukrainian gas company Burisma was being investigated for corruption by Ukrainian prosecutors (which included Hunter Biden, a board member) got threatened with a loss of U.S. loan guarantees and (or) aid if they did not stop the investigation. Read what Vice-President Biden incredibly bragged about:

"I remember going over and convincing our team, others, to convince that we should be providing for loan guarantees. And I went over, I guess, the 12th, 13th time to Kiev. And I was supposed to announce that there was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. And I had gotten a commitment from Poroshenko and from Yatsenyuk that they would take action against the state prosecutor. And they didn't."

"So they said they had - they were walking out to a press conference. I said, nah, I'm not going to - or, we're not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, you have no authority. You're not the president. The president said - I said, call him. (Laughter.) I said, I'm telling you, you're not getting the billion dollars. I said, you're not getting the billion. I'm going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money. Well, son of a b-tch. (Laughter.) He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."

Collusion, corruption, conflict of interests? The guilty party, Joe Biden.

TCR's Voters Guide Coming Soon

For sixteen years, TCR has provided a reliable voters guide for primaries, general election, and city elections.

For 2020, we will publish on the internet and mail as much as we can afford these guides for the Southeast Texas area in all major races.

Let's be clear, this election is critical. There are lots of key races, not just the White House, but also down to the courthouse.

The courthouse is critical. As citizens, we must have fair, qualified, hardworking judges who follow the law and at the trial level apply the facts to the law.

Vote in person if you can, there is plenty of opportunity.

Texas House District 148 Incumbent
Beaten By Communist "Democrat" Penny Shaw

Say it isn't so, but it appears it is. In the Democratic primary last spring, incumbent Ana Eastman, a traditional liberal Democrat, was ousted by a communist Democrat according to State GOP Chair Allen West and Epoch Times Newspaper. The candidate is Penny Shaw and she is challenged by Republican Luis LaRotta, a candidate much more in line with District 148.

Shaw is said to be a member of the Communist Party USA and she has had their support since November 2018. The CPUSA Political Action Committee Chair Joelle Fishman doesn't hide their support. "In Texas, we had five candidates in the primaries ... In the general election, Penny Shaw ran for County Commissioner in a Republican area and got 45% of the vote..." That's the same Penny Shaw now seeking to be a State House member.

Voters of both parties need to reject Communist infiltration of our mainstream parties.

Luis LaRotta is a conservative who will prioritize ending flooding, controlling runaway property taxes, and fix our dismal road situation. Stop the Communist takeover of Harris County Democrats!
